Campaigning for information literacy
Disinformation is not a new phenomenon – it has served as a means of exercising power or gaining influence since time immemorial. But the acceleration brought about by social media has turned it into a serious threat to democracy, prosperity, health, and the economy.
The handbook explains how the 33 most common disinformation techniques work, documents historical and current examples, and provides practical advice on dealing with disinformation – be it in everyday life, in teaching, in politics, or in public debate.

ReclaimTheFacts takes a preventative approach with its handbook: teaching these techniques is intended to act like an inoculation. Studies show that people who understand the mechanisms of disinformation are significantly less susceptible to its effects. Those who know the 33 described methods are better protected against targeted deception – essentially immunized.
