Overriding Suspicion

Overriding Suspicion is a public manipulation technique that involves having a nihilistic degree of skepticism towards the official account, preventing belief in anything that doesn’t fit into the conspiracy theory.

This disinformation technique is often used in various fields, including climate change, 5G, politics, and marketing.

EXAMPLES

Climate Change: One example of Overriding Suspicion in climate change is the belief that the scientific consensus on the issue is part of a larger conspiracy to control the population. This belief is often held by individuals who deny the existence of man-made climate change and believe that climate scientists are corrupt and motivated by personal gain.

For instance, some individuals have claimed that climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the government to promote a globalist agenda or that climate scientists are fabricating data to receive more funding. These claims, while baseless, feed into the idea that the official account cannot be trusted and prevent belief in anything that doesn’t fit into the conspiracy theory.

5G: In the case of 5G, some individuals believe that the technology is responsible for a range of health problems, including cancer and COVID-19. This belief is often based on misinformation and a lack of understanding of how the technology works.

For instance, some conspiracy theorists have claimed that 5G is responsible for the spread of the coronavirus, despite there being no scientific evidence to support this claim. Similarly, some individuals believe that the radiation from 5G towers is harmful, despite the fact that the levels of radiation emitted by these towers are well within safe limits.

Politics: Overriding Suspicion is also commonly seen in political discourse, where individuals may reject the official account of events and instead believe in elaborate conspiracy theories.

For instance, some individuals believe that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were an inside job orchestrated by the U.S. government, despite there being no evidence to support this claim. Similarly, some individuals believe that the 2020 U.S. presidential election was rigged, despite numerous court cases and investigations finding no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Marketing: Overriding Suspicion can also be seen in marketing, where individuals may reject the official account of a product or service and instead believe in conspiracy theories or misinformation.

For instance, some individuals believe that vaccines are harmful, despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary. Similarly, some individuals believe that certain foods or supplements can cure serious illnesses, despite there being no evidence to support these claims.

SO, HOW CAN WE DEAL WITH OVERRIDING SUSPICION?

Dealing with individuals who exhibit Overriding Suspicion can be challenging, as they may be resistant to evidence that contradicts their beliefs. However, it is important to remain calm and avoid getting into arguments or confrontations with these individuals.

One approach is to provide accurate information from credible sources and to encourage critical thinking and skepticism. It is also important to be respectful and empathetic towards individuals who hold these beliefs, as many of them may be struggling with underlying issues such as anxiety or distrust.

Ultimately, addressing Overriding Suspicion requires a combination of education, patience, and empathy. While it may not be possible to change the beliefs of individuals who hold these views, it is important to continue to promote accurate information and critical thinking in order to counteract the spread of conspiracy theories and misinformation.

In conclusion, overriding suspicion is a public manipulation technique that can have serious consequences for society, from delaying action on climate change to promoting harmful products or ideas. By promoting critical thinking and supporting reputable sources of information, we can help combat this technique and make more informed decisions as individuals and as a society.
